Yet ANOTHER problem: Can't save!!!! 2/22/2010 11:33:53 PM   (Total replies: 1)
This computer format has been the best thing that's happened (now have a much faster/more powerful system), and the worst thing that's happened! (movie maker issues I've never had) Ok, so I am continuing to work on my project files that were saved from before the reformat. As I'm sure you've seen my multiple posts lately (so sorry!), asking for various help, this one tops them all. I am getting the infamous error message: "Windows cannot save to the specified location. Verify that the ...

After having my brother help me download codecs, searching through pages and pages of info (or lack of), and trying every trick in the book, we are still baffled. He's going to try installing a new, test harddrive for the basic operating sytem programs, then install movie maker to see if it will save. If not, we'll try installing one thing at a time to test. I sure do hope this problem gets resolved, because I'll be in a pickle otherwise!

Re: Editing Clips Without Removing From The Beginning Or To End 2/18/2010 5:57:38 PM   (Total replies: 3)
Hi, Ok, set your view to the TIMELINE (not the storyboard) view. Once your clip is on the timeline, place your cursor at the beginning of the clip, click, and drag to mark the beginning. The same goes for the end if you wish to cut off the end. To split a clip in the middle (or wherever you wish), go to the icon on the bottom right of your movie preview window (right next to the camera icon). It says, "Split the clip into two clips at the current frame". That will splice your clip in ...

UPDATE on movie saving issues 2/28/2010 8:58:12 PM   (Total replies: 0)
As you know, I've been having issues saving movies since the reformat of my computer. These are projects that used to save just fine, previously, and now MM just refuses to save them as either avi or wmv. (I'm using one of PapaJohn's custom widescreen profiles, but nothing else works either.) We have tried every trick in the book.....and then some. PLEASE, PapaJohn or someone, why did so many of my projects save fine before, and now they won't? I have a MUCH more powerful system now, so I ...

Re: Copy video portion of a clip over another clip? 2/22/2010 12:26:48 PM   (Total replies: 1)
What you need to do is lay out the interview videos exactly how you want them (don't worry about the facial expression at this point. Once you get them arranged how they need to be, start from the beginning of your project, hit play, and record the audio (using something like Creative Media player which has a "Record what you hear" option".) The insert that audio track in the audio line, and now you're free to cut out the facial expression and still keep the audio. This is pretty tricky ...

Thank you Neophyte. Will do and I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks. I always shut other apps down when working in MM, since it's so greedy. :P lol Thankfully, after MUCH trial and error, and an entire week of frustration, a bunch of issues have been resolved. Movie Maker is so weird........sometimes it works like a charm, then the next day it does everything it can to drive it's operator batty!! The hardware acceleration change seems to have done the trick, as well as a few other changes we made for non-related issues (not saving movies ...

Sorta. *sigh* For some reason I'm still having problems saving certain projects that *never* had a problem saving before. It gives me a message saying: The instruction at "0x333d1fc6" referenced memory at "0x0000000". The memory could not be written. Click OK to terminate the program. Click CANCEL to debug the program. (which by the way the stupid message never goes away after clicking 20 times. I have to manually close it by opening Windows task manager) What IS that???
