As far as I know the most friendly format for Avid support is DNxHD. Have a try to used a <a href="http://www.brorsoft.com/video-converter/">converter</a> to encode videos into DNxHD MOV.

The H.264 compression format requires that files be transcoded into a format better suited to editing, effects, and color grading; this would usually be .mpg or .wmv files.
