No audio on AVI files 11/29/2003 10:19:25 PM   (Total replies: 2)
AVI files created by MM2 are missing audio. When I view the AVI files created by MM2 with GSpot, the audio portion indicates "No audio channel". Everything else in MM2 works fine. I converted from Windows ME to XP. I have the latest Windows Media components and codecs. There must be something in the registry or a DLL that is incorrect. The registry .avi entry has: a (Default) value of "avifile" a Conent Type value of "video/avi" a MP2.Last value of "Default" a ...

Thanks, but I've already been there many, many times. Based upon your suggestion, I thought I would try one more time, but it looks like I can't connect to the PapaJohn website at the moment. I have seen other posts to this forum, and many others forums, with AVI issues similar to mine, but nobody ever seems to answer those. I have also logged an issue with Microsoft, but they haven't been of any help yet. If it weren't for the $300 price tag and my insecurity that it will even work ...

Frank, Just wondering if you found any solution to your problem. I haven't had any luck yet. I did find that the missing audio is specific to MM2 when it creates AVI files. Even if I save as an AVI file on the hard drive, there is no sound. I downloaded all of the other software packages suggested by PapaJohn and other forums, including WinDV as you suggested. I got WinDV to work, but only on a short, unaltered clip captured by WinDV. I've used EO Video to convert MM2 non-AVI ...

Just thought I would give you an update. I was working with a technical person at Microsoft. He provided a debugging program that I downloaded to my PC. The program runs in background. You select the program that you want to monitor, in this case MM2, and it lets you see what DLLs and profiles are being called by the program. What I found was that two Dazzle (hardware device to retrieve video) files were being called when I moved my movie clip to the MM2 timeline. I renamed these two ...

I wish I could help you, but I've been experiencing the same problem. I have a Dell Dimension 8100 and am using a firewire to connect the PC to my Sony Camcorder. My Dell has a Santa Cruz sound card. Everything works great, except what you are experiencing, no sound on the tape when saving back to the camera. I've spent countless hours trying to figure out why it doesn't work without any luck. Plus I've checked other message boards and the vendors for each piece of equipment. Just ...

I don't know if this will help you or not. I had a problem with MM2 audio as well. I have a Dazzle DVC USB device. I found that MM2 was accessing two files that came with my Dazzle device. I renamed the two files before starting MM2 and had success with my audio. The two files that I renamed were DzlMpegEngine.dll and DzlMp2Encoder.ax.
