Elf Yourself is Back 11/10/2009 4:14:00 PM (Total replies: 1)
The "Elf Yourself" web site where you add to five faces to make free "dancing elves" holiday movie clips has been reactivated. click here to Elf Yourself

Dickmr, I am doing fine, hope you are too! Just watched your Capone clip on Vimeo. Very good! Thanks for correcting that link. I looked and looked after I posted it, but could not see the problem. What was it?

Dick, Last year I thought it would be neat to capture one of the personalized Elf Yourself clips and later use parts of it in a Movie Maker movie, but I never ended up being able to save a good, clear Elf Yourself. At best I ended up with a "jerky" dance that ws not worth using. Any ideas on how to save one? The main thing that my computer seems to have taught me is that at times it seems better to accept strange occurences as 'just one of those things" rather than go crazy needing to ...

Converting an FLV File 10/31/2009 10:56:45 PM (Total replies: 1)
I downloaded an FLV video and tried to convert it to use in Movie Maker. I used Super, Flvtowwmv and Leawo FLV Converter but have had no luck. The programs either encounter a problem and close or download part of the video without sound. To see the file I am trying to download click here There are several others videos of interest on that site. So I tried downloading and converting some of them with the same results. Any ...

Hi Neo, I just tried Media Converter online. It said that this is an an uynsupported web site or file type. It seems strange that I am having problems because each of the videos on that web site have a message that pops up inviting you to download the file. Unfortunately, they download as flv and converting them is where I have the problem.

Thank you Neo, For some reason I did not think they were on YouTube and was looking forward to learning a new and different way of converting those flv files. Sorry about that. I'll try to remember to think of the most straightforward option to use first in the future. Your patient help is always appreciated. I'll give Media Converter a try and see how that "conversion limit" that just started appearing works.

I did not have any luck with Media Converter just because of my own set up. I use Hotmail and Media Converter does not like it. So ages back I added a Yahoo email address that worked in Media Converter. Then Media Converter found my IE 6 out-of-date and would not open for me. So I added Firefox which Media Converter suggested. But somewhere along the way it gave up on my Yahoo email address and will not let me sign-in -- says that account does not exist -- and I did not see how to begin another ...

Re: Converting an FLV File 11/3/2009 7:16:30 AM (Total replies: 1)
Neo, When I first started using Media Converter online, unless my memory is even worse than I suspect, I had to go to its web site and it would send a link by email with the converted file. It was when using that process that first Hotmail and then IE 6 became problems for Media Converter online. That is why I started using Media Converter offline only but I now no longer seem to be able to use the offline Media Converter. So I just started trying to use Media Converter online again and was ...

Neo, The video I downloaded was not particularly clear and sharp. (I wish it was.) Media Converter did as good a job as the other methods I tried. Next time I download a nice, sharp one I'll do a comparison of methods and let you know.
