I imported that file into Movie Maker and saved it as a movie without a problem. Is that the file that had the last 2 minutes cut off of it on your system? If it is, go to "Tools > Options > Compatibility" and uncheck all the filters listed on that page and see what happens.

There appears to be something on your system that's causing that problem in Movie Maker. Do you happen to have Nero installed on your system? Also, what codec packs/bundles have you installed?

If you haven't done so, make sure you unchecked all of these that are listed at "Tools > Options > Compatibility. If that doesn't help, I would try uninstalling DivX, Xvid and Nero (in that order). If you decide to try that, make sure you create a restore point first, as that will allow you to restore back to your current configuration if uninstalling them doesn't help.

Welcome to the forums. If you save your movie in Movie Maker, is the 13 minutes missing at the end of that movie? What program did you use for converting the files to wmv format?

I believe Camtasia Studio uses the wmv screen capture codec as the default codec for wmv files. As PapaJohn pointed out in another thread, the screen capture wmv codec doesn't use keyframes, which is something needed for a Movie Maker project. If that's the case, try using <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx"> Windows Media Encoder Series 9</a> (it's a free download) to re-encode your files using one of the other wmv codecs that has keyframes.

If there's one of the converted files you wouldn't mind sharing with me, upload it to <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/">MediaFire</a> and I'll download it and check it out on my system. If you decide to do that, post the download link for the file back here or use the <a href="http://thecliparchive.com/index.php?category=Contact_Me">"Contact Me"</a> page on my website to send me the link.

There are a number of reported causes for this problem. Start by freeing up as much space as you can on your hard drive and freeing up as many system resources as you can before opening your project. Also, check to make sure the converted files play normally in Windows Media Player and, if they do, go to "Tools > Options > Compatibility" in Movie Maker and uncheck all the filters ending in .ax and see what happens. If that doesn't help, navigate to the folder used for temporary storage ...

You can determine which version you have by opening Movie Maker and going to the "Help" menu and clicking on "About Windows Movie Maker". Post back if the fourth line indicates you have a version other than 2.1 (that's the latest version for Windows XP).

Which version of Movie Maker are you using? The reason I ask is that Windows Live Movie Maker is the only version I know that claims to support mov files and I haven't seen a reliable method for using them in the Vista and XP versions of Movie Maker. Also, did you mean you converted them to mov format or wmv format (your original post indicated you had converted them to wmv format)?

The Movie Maker project file stores links to your source files rather than copies of the files themselves. Thus, if you can't come up with the original source files, there's no way I know that you can reuse your project files. If you haven't done so, check the recycle bin for your source files and make sure you do a thorough search for them.
