Re: More Subtle Titles 10/30/2011 4:32:41 PM   (Total replies: 1)
You may have reinstalled or repair-installed Microsoft .NET Framework 3, which contains MovieMaker. It would have overwritten the existing folder. That's how I lost all MY titles! Keep a backup copy of your MovieMaker folder from now on.

Desperate for boxed Titles, grey background 11/2/2011 2:30:43 PM   (Total replies: 0)
Hi, everybody. First of all, thank you to everyone who posted xml subtitles. I'm very excited, this makes old Moviemaker feel like a new machine. I didn't know it could do these things. I have a lot of videos to translate. And I know nothing about xml. I took a subtitle found in this forum and shifted it up as far as I could, but obviously, there's no real control over position. <TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0"> <Titles> <TitleDLL ...

Subtitles & titles - a simple way to increase # of characters per line? 10/11/2011 12:01:03 PM   (Total replies: 1)
Hi there. I have a lot of movies to translate, and the subtitles, and the other types of titles in MovieMaker often do not leave enough character spaces to complete a phrase. [1] Is there a plugin, or a simple way, to increase the # of character spaces in a single line? For example, I would need to write all on one line over one clip: "The goal is to meet the challenge" But there's no room for the last "e", so I would have to split the subtitle into two ugly short ones ...

Yes, I have tried reducing the font size, it doesn't help when you have reached max # character spaces per line. I know there used to be more line-width space, because my old project files from which I produced videos, now all have their text lines cut off by one or two characters, so I now cannot re-issue my movies. Somebody over at Microsoft tinkered with something, maybe a global parameter, a couple of years ago, perhaps without realizing they were shortening all the titles.

Thanks for the tip on graphic overlays, I will check that out.

Re: graphic text overlays. I looked at your sample undersea movie, that's quite something! It's probably just the kind of technique I am looking for. In another post, you had cautioned that MovieMaker has limitations handling a lot of images on the timeline. Do you know if 10 graphic overlays is the limit, because I would need to use more... one for each line of text (subtitles) to translate a movie. Thank you very much, this is starting to look hopeful...

Hi, thanks for the input. (Let me preface: I know nada about xml coding. I downloaded a free xml editor to play with). Somebody was looking for a "shine" effect, so I sent them this: http://www.hitthebongo.co.uk/wordpress/?p=101 Then I decided to play with it myself. Turns out, it's a TEXT effect! Linked with a PNG file. This may be an even better starting point for me than a video overlay, because what I want, actually, is to do text on/in a colored (perhaps somewhat ...

MovieMaker can't "see" ANy image slides (BMP) in timeline 9/4/2011 1:44:44 PM   (Total replies: 1)
Hi, everybody. I have a serious problem with Moviemaker, don't know if it's two stages of one progressive problem, or two different problems. I purchased a used DELL Latitude D600 with XP Pro in it in May 2011. *** Phase 1 of the problem - Moviemaker won't generate all images to the end *** The first thing I did when I bought my Dell was spend 3 months day & night preparing an historical documentary on the Confederation of Canada, using bmp slides I created individually. I added ...

Hi, thanks for answering. However, [1] can't do a system restore because that was months ago. [2] things have further deteriorated since I posted my question. Moviemaker now sees neither images, nor videoclips on the timeline. I wanted to uninstal moviemaker and try to reinstal it, but there's no specific entry for it in add/remove programs, nor does it show up in Revo uninstaller. I tried manually deleting it out of the Programs folder (desperate!), it just popped back up again and ...

Hi, I had just updated to netramework SP4 to try out Nero 11. I was just going to post news on that when I saw your message, thank you. I will therefore use Revo uninstaller to roll back to the point where I can start fresh. I appreciate this advice. Meanwhile, here's what happened with Nero 11: DELL Latitude D600 - XP SP3 upgraded to SP4 by Nero during instal. I downloaded NERO 11 multimedia suite, which contains a video editor that can import Windows Live Moviemaker files to ...
