news video...

i'm asking if someone knows the xml for the news video,inset title animation? I was hoping to edit it because in the original the video starts out in full screen then shrinks to the upper left corner then back again. I wanted it that the video is already in the left side corner at the start rather than in full screen. Also, I copied some of the other xml sources and pasted it in notepad, putting it in the addTFX folder, but they don't show up. I also downloaded the metacreations from Rehan but that too dosen't show though the other two works.

News Video Inset: view post 67044 - basically you just need to add EntranceRect and ExitRect parameters with the same values as the MainRect, otherwise it will start and end on the default of a full screen.

For your XML issues, you need to give us more details on what specific XML/post you are looking at, whether you followed all the steps, did you name it with an .xml extension, did you restart WMM, etc. Also, the correct name of the folder is AddOnTFX so make sure you didn't leave that out.

For MetaCreations, do you see the icons or not? If so, do they just not work? Did you install the DirectX 6 package that is needed? (You need to run both executables, not just the one that installs .xml).

yeah, i copied the source and it worked. Now I'm trying to change the background into a picture. I typed the picture's source to the backgroundcolor parameters and changed it to background only but it doesn't work it's just black. I used the same thing on the background of the crossover transition and it worked but here it doesn't. Could you also specify at which part should I put the EntanceRect and ExitRect parameters?

I think one example of the xmls that doesn't work is the blood drip. I copied the source here and it shows up on the title animations but nothing happens. And my file does read as AddOnTFX, too. I'm not sure if I installed the DirectX 6 I better check again.

You seem to be mixing up things. The "crossover" transition you mention is from PipPlus package which is designed to support background having pictures.

All built in effects and transitions and titles do not support this feature. So it is not suppoosed to work with their parameters.

is there no way around that or is there maybe another one similar to that and can put a picture in the background? The only thing i really needed there was that the video changed size in the background.

Why not, you can use PipPlus to make such effects:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" >
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{0BEDE179-3361-4eea-9058-11CBB1739D50}">
<Effect name="PIP+ Rect" iconid="0">
<Param name="Background" value="C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper\Crystal.jpg" />
<Param name="RectA" value="0.0, 0.1,0.1,0.55,0.55" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Change the path to your background picture.

I tried it but it goes to the effects not the title animations. The starting is good, it's already in the left side corner but i need it to go back to the full screen again like in the end of the original news video and also the banner.

OK then try this:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" >
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{0BEDE179-3361-4eea-9058-11CBB1739D50}">
<Effect name="PIP+ Rect2" iconid="0">
<Param name="Background" value="C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper\Crystal.jpg" />
<Param name="RectA" value="0.0, 0.1,0.1,0.55,0.55;
0.5, 0.1,0.1,0.55,0.55;
1.0, 0.0,0.0,1.0,1.0;" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

thanks. It works fine now. And I finally fixed what was wrong with the metacreations, I didn't download the directx6.
