Title Reflection

This is just an illusion of course, so I am not really sure
that I pull it off...having stared at it for too long.

mirror

I used the mirror vertical, some PIP+ shifts, and an overlay.
I can post the info if it's worthwhile...or I might try to
improve on it somehow.

Ooops...when I look closer, I can see my reflection has
a drop shadow. I didn't think about that, but I don't think
that is realistic. I was too tempted by the fade in, fade out title
which is nice for transitions, but has the drop shadow.
Here is a clip using the basic title, which looks cleaner.

first-rate ! One again you've bent mm2 to almost snapping point and then eased off just a tad to present somthing that mm2 really shouldn't be doing. Poor thing won't know whether it's a video editing tool or flash animation programme!

Do post the code.

If you composite this onto an appropriate background,
it improves the illusion. This sample was all done with one
pass, so it's not too complicated.

reflection
(gave me a chance to use my favorite Kathokatho clip...rain puddle)

Ok, so here are the steps.
Make a title with a black background, text color doesn't matter.
Start with the Basic Title animation and MS Sans Serif until you get
the hang of it, but variations will work. They just require more shifting.
Try to get all your ducks in a row now...any changes to font color,
font size and actual text will have to be changed twice later.
Once you have your title done, drag a copy down to the title overlay track.
So now you have the same title overlaying itself.

We can only apply effects to the video track(of course), so the
overlay track will remain untouched now...unless you need to
change something in the title itself.

On the video track title, apply the following effects.
PIP+ Reflection overlay
PIP+ Down .05
PIP+ Down .05
Mirror, Vertical(standard effect)
Brightness decrease(standard effect)

The order matters, so when you view the effects list,
you should see them in the reverse that I listed.
Brightness, mirror,shift etc...

Here are the PIP+ effects needed. I included other down variations,
because different fonts,font sizes, and animations require different
combinations. You may also want to add a move after the
overlay in the effects list, and that will shift the shadow down.

<Param name="Background" value="0x000000" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect - down .02" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.00,0.02,1.0,1.0" />
<Param name="Background" value="0x000000" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect - down .04" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.00,0.04,1.0,1.0" />
<Param name="Background" value="0x000000" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect - down .06" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.00,0.06,1.0,1.05" />
<Param name="Background" value="0x000000" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect - reflection overlay " iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.00, 0.00,0.00,1.00,1.00" />
<Param name="Bordera" value="C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Pictures\reflection.png" />
<Param name="Background" value="0xFFFFFF" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

And finally...here is the overlay PNG. Make sure the name and location
matches the BORDERA param in the reflection overlay effect.

I'll beat this poor horse a little longer, just in case there
is any more life in it.
Here I added some blur to the reflection, and used it with
COMP A and B and then COMP A - B. In both cases the rain
only hits the reflection, but in the 2nd example, the reflection
almost seems to puddle.

BTW, I found that sometimes mirror doesn't like to work.
Seems to be a problem if you add it later. Not sure what the
deal is, but if you apply the effect right away, but make
sure it stays at the top of the list, it should work ok.
