Wikipedia and Windows Movie Maker
Posted: 27 Oct 2005 07:45 PM
The Windows Movie Maker section at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Movie_Maker is pretty bare when it comes to content. I see that PapaJohn and this site is listed, but not much else.

I'm going to try to add some links to the Wikipedia, but I'm hoping that some of the regulars here who know a lot more about Movie Maker can do a better job. We definately need to reference the creation of custom effects, trans and titles there. Maybe with links to Rehan's site and the MSDN whitepaper.

If you don't understand or know what the Wikipedia is or how it works look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Introduction I believe that in the future the Wikipedia is going to be one of the most important sites for information on the net.

I started that page with hopes it might expand to being the central library for the custom xml stuff...

I was motivated from your post and added a bit more information on the page to make a little less bare :). I hope some others would jump in and do the same ;)!

I'd remove the comment about .mp3 support. MP3 files have been the cause of problems for many people in WMM2.

There seems to have been some recent activity on the Wikipedia WMM page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Movie_Maker

It still doesn't mention some things like custom titles or where to find custom effects.
The article currently states that the MCE edition is called version 2.5 - is that right?
Any of the local MVPs or WMM gurus care to make a contribution?

Hadn't looked at it for a long time.... I remember starting that page years ago.

I'm not impressed enough with today's content, and feel slighted that someone removed the link to my website, which to me seems even more appropriate then it was at the time. I can only assume that whoever removed it without letting me know wouldn't want it back.

Maybe it's that I just didn't read the rules closely enough. Whatever, I'll pass on this round rather than make a contribution.

Regarding version whether there is a version 2.5... on my Windows MCE 2005 edition it just shows 2.1.4026 so I'm not sure where people are seeing 2.5... anyone know?

I was watching a LiveVideo DIY video about WMM It mentioned "a new version of WMM for XP that makes it look more like the Vista version".

I found a reference in the MS site to WMM 2.5 from the UK site that includes 2.5 as a part of XP MCE.

But i cannot find a download as it seems to be part of the XP srvice pack for the UK.
