starting music a few seconds in?
Posted: 03 Oct 2016 07:41 PM
Hello! I have created a movie and have attached an M4a file to it. What I'd like to do is to start the music a few seconds in; in other words, cut out the music intro and just start with the words. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Welcome to the forums.

It's possible. Which version of Movie Maker are you using?

Thanks for responding. I don't know how to find exactly which version I'm using? But it's for Windows 10. Does that help?

FYI, you can run a number of different versions of Movie Maker on Windows 10. I assume you're running Movie Maker 2012, which is the latest version. In MM 2012, you would click on Music Tools and, once you do that, you should see a box where you can set the start time for your music.

Thanks once again, but I think I'm probably miscommunicating. I want to start music at the very beginning of the movie, but in the middle of the song. In other words, I'd like the first seconds of the music cut out. I've done what you suggested, went to music tools, and then changed the settings in various permutations. But that didnt seem to change anything. I'm sort of thinking that what I'm attempting to do can't be done. Or I need to go into the music itself and try to figure out how to do that. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the clarification. Go to Music Tools and set the "Start point" to the time in the music clip at which you want the music to start. Set the "Start time" to zero if you want the music to play at the beginning of the movie.

Worked perfectly...exactly what I wanted! I'm sorry I wasn't clear to begin with, but thank you so much for your help!
