How can I delete the accidental narration from my movie?
Posted: 20 Jul 2016 06:23 PM
I mistakenly recorded some really unpleasant narration when I wasn't aware that I had somehow turned it on. It must have been something on TV because it makes no sense. My storyboard is finished and I switched to a timeline as requested, so I need to delete or erase the unwanted narration (if you could call the gibberish narration lol) so I can create the movie with the proper narration.

Thanks.

Switch to the timeline view and find the narration on the Audio/Music track and delete it; then record your new narration. If you run into a problem, post back with which version of Movie Maker you are using.

I am afraid to delete anything because I`m pretty sure my entire movie would be erased too. Can you please tell me if this is true or is it possible to just delete the narration.

I am using this version: 1511 (OS Build 10586.494)

Thanks again.

You should be able to delete any item in your Movie Maker project without erasing the rest of your movie.

The first thing you want to do is to save a copy of your current project file - you can do that by going to the "File" menu and clicking on "Save Project As" and then completing the rest of the steps in the wizard. Now, if you happen to delete any files by error, you can go back and use this copy of your project and start over from where you are now.

Once you have a backup copy of your project file, open your project and go to the timeline view. Then find the narration piece you want to remove on the Audio/Video track. Then click on it and hit the "Delete" key. Preview your movie to see if the narration has been deleted and the rest of the movie looks OK. If it does, save your project file (make sure you save it using a different name from the one you used for saving your backup copy). Now add your new narration.

It's always a good idea to save your project file after you've done some editing to ensure you have a copy you could go back to if something goes wrong.
