So much great information on here my heads about to explode. I got Windows 7 and haven't used MM for a long time when I had a vista machine. I had a bunch of add ons and really liked it but this new version is very basic. Can somebody give me the steps on how to get rid of the new and get a better version with a bunch of add-ons please?

The last version that allowed add-ons was Windows Movie Maker 6.0 from Vista. There's a link in my signature for instructions on how to install this on Windows 7 or 8.

As for the add-ons, view post 126998

Do you have a good source for add-ons once I get it installed?

Hi,
I just updated my MM version from MM Live to MM 2012.
On opening the program I was dismayed to find that not all the transitions of MM live was on this latest version. How do I remedy this?

Also How do I overlap captions to simultaneously run together on one picture?

I am VERY new to this so please go easy on me regarding programming...

All the transitions and effects from WLMM 2011 should still be present in Movie Maker 2012. One thing to confirm is whether you are trying to apply a transition to the first clip. Remember a transition is generally thought to be something that happens between two clips. If you try to apply a transition to the first clip, then there is a limited number of transitions that will work (e.g. Fade from black, etc.) So to see the full set of transitions, be sure you have selected a clip other than the first clip.

You cannot overlap captions in Movie Maker 2012. About all you can do is multiple passes. Add captions and finish all your edits. Then save that as a movie. Now start a new project and add the video created in part 1. Add more captions as needed.
