Importing trouble
Posted: 22 Jan 2013 04:36 PM
Hello! I've battled long to get some .avi files imported to Windows movie maker - first the error message said the "download codecs automatically" tab wasn't checked, that was easy to fix, then it complained about the right codec not being installed, and now, after I used GSpot to find out what codecs I need (Div3) and installed divx codecs (and thought I was doing pretty fine, for a girl who doesn't still quite know what the heck codecs are), now I get this:

.avi could not be imported. Unspecified error.

*headdesk* This is getting pretty desperate, but anyone have any idea what to try next?

Convert your files to WMV. Trying to get codecs working correctly is like playing whack a mole. Some problem always keeps popping up.

Freemake makes a good freeware converter. Just remember that being freeware, they attempt to install crapware with it. The only thing it needs to install is the .NET Framework.

Alright, thanks! maybe I'll do that. Plenty to convert, but there's no hurry...

Try a video converter like Brorsoft video converter :)
