Saving A Movie From A Cut Up Movie Imported
Posted: 30 Oct 2010 11:05 PM
I have imported a little .AVI into WMM and it contains an XVID movie.

It is a 'musical' movie - contains song and dance.

I just want to take out the song and dance sequences and make a mini-movie or two of them.

So I've learned how to cut the movie into parts. So far so good.

And I anticipate probably being able to join certain of those parts together - the instructions seem straightforward enough.

But I cannot find where I export these clips as little movies or little files of their own!

And I can't find it clearly stated how I'd make a movie of these clips and then export or save that movie.

I mean I see how to save a movie - but what's it going to save? The whole thing I've got in there? The whole original movie (now one 'clip')

Should I cut it into bits and then delete the bits I don't want and then join the remainders and that's the movie? Is that the method, the design of the prog?

regards,

ab :)

Firstly you may have trouble when you do save as you've used an xvid video file. I'd suggest converting that to a wmv file first, then using that file to edit.
Cut all the parts you don't want adn delete them from the timeline. This will not change your original file.
Then save the movie as *****.wmv and you are done.

Thank you, Graham.

Have you got a favorite conversion tool?

And what would you say might be the problem if I make the movie and it doesn't have any video?

I convert using Super and get an MP4 .avi file.

WMM accepts that and plays it okay. I cut it and delete unwanted and everything displays fine.

I put a title on it.

I set automovie to work. It makes a movie.

I save the file.

Whatever I play the file with I get sound and no video. Except one picture: the title at the front, that displays.

Convert to wmv with super and all should be fine.
