photostory 3 conversion
Posted: 26 Feb 2010 02:53 PM
I have been trying to convert photostory wp3 to wmv but have been unsuccessful. file size is 172,881 kb.
Error message is"there is not enough memory or disc space etc"

I have 80gb free disc space but only 512 memory.

Has anyone had this problem??? how much memory would be required.

welcome to the forum...

Photo Story 3 is what makes the wmv file from the PS3 wp3 project file.... see my website's Photo Story 3 > Saving page for the difference between saving the project and saving the story (the wmv file).

thanks for quick reply.

I do understand how to use & convert photostorys to WMV & DVD.

My problem is that because of the file size, 172,881 kb I cannot complete the conversion of this project on my PC.

Question : how much memory do you think I require to convert the file.

I have bought a new computer with loads of memory etc but it runs on windows 7 , therefore not compatable with photostory 3.

I am desperate to complete this final photostory before I do the changeover. Advice would be much appreciated.

Micrsoft tweaked the download/setup process for PS3 so it now works for Windows 7 systems. Try it again.

Thanks PapaJohn.
I just downloaded it and it runs like before. So far. Need to check it out more.

One thing. I never could get it to download using Firefox. I had to use IE.

MS PS3 is a 32bit app that has a default RAM address limit of 2Gb no matter how much RAM you have.

It possible to change a bit (/LARGEADDRESSAWARE) in the pstory.exe to get access to 4Gb (assuming you have >4Gb RAM and are running MS PS3 on a 64bit win7 system) == this can be done directly on the .exe file (you don't need to recompile from source) using a hex-edit tool

HOWEVER, at least in my experience, 'out of space' error is more likley to be a problem with variable rate audio file (mp3) or slide timing (transitions 'too fast') ...

NB. Almost every time I get 'out of RAM' errors, I find that saving the project, closing Photostory then re-opening the Project and going straight to output usually does the trick ..
