Class project in WMM - others would be using FCP Posted: 07 Sep 2009 02:30 PM |
Hello,
Although my video editing class is titled "Final Cut Pro (FCP)", the teacher allows students to use whatever editor they want to. He plans to cover and assign projects that involve _all_ features of FCP. He would provide us raw footage; each project would result in a few minutes long clip.
I have seen http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms867186.aspx -- I am comfortable with the XML interface to WMM, I do not care about having custom icons; but have no clue about the "COM and DirectX Transforms (DXT)" interface. I am on XP Pro.
I have started going over PapaJohn's tutorials at http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Tutorials/
Question: Would it be technically possible to do the projects (that involve all aspects of FCP) in WMM with XML interface (and withOUT COM/DXT work)? Or would one be better off spending time on a different tool?
Thanks.

I've not used FCP but would bet on you not being able to use Movie Maker as an alternate and get the results expected, assuming there's a deadline to hand in your finished work. Many creative users have found ways to do most anything with Movie Maker, but you're asking if a Honda Civic can perform like a Farrari... with a deadline. I don't think so.
As the class is about FCP, seems best to learn and use it for the assignment.
I'd love to see the definition of the 'results expected'... then Movie Maker gears can begin to turn. |
