help with unwanted Green Flashes
Posted: 24 May 2008 03:42 AM
Erm, Not Sure IF this is the right place, but i bought a Windows Vista computer a few weeks ago, and have been haveing Many problems with the Movie maker On it. It dosnt Crash or anything but Inserts MANY Green Flashes into the Video. Its annoying and makes me not want to use movie maker. ITs a BRAND NEW Computer So Therefore so is the movie maker. The Edition of Vista i have is Home Priemuem so there really shouldnt be any problem with this version of movie maker. If theres a Fix somewhere for the problem, I'd be Greatful if someone would tell me how to fix it. If you dont know What I mean by Unwanted Green Flashes, please View http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKyxcaZzAMA that Video contains the unwanted Green Flashes. all you need to see is one to get what i mean. I've been looking around now for a while but noone seems to know. Help Would be greatly Smiled upon, (since i cant spell the word I am Looking For). Thanks.

Another place to look is to see if you have incompatible source files. Try this URL:

http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/File_type_compatibility.htm

Another trick that sometimes works is to uncheck the boxes in Tools| Options| Compatibility.

much to my Fury With MM, Those didnt work either. There Is only One compatiblity option in the Tools| Options| Compatibility Section. It dosnt fix The Problem to have it off or on. and According to http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/File_type_compatibility.htm the WMV File's I'm useing SHOULD Work with out problems. Now. I have Two Vista H.P. Computers and Both Movie Makers have the EXACT Same Problem. So Could it Be That I have Faulty Movie maker Programs on my Computers?

Not sure I can add much more to the solution -- one thing I have done when I have something that seems intractable, is to import the sample videos that come with Vista into Movie Maker and see if even they will work. On my machine, the sample videos are in the Public Videos folder. There are three of them: Bear, Butterfly, Lake. Try one of them and see if they give you the same problem; perhaps that would narrow the problem for you.

Cheers,

I Tinkered Around with those Vids like you said i Should, and They came Out Fine (Wich REALLY ticks Me Off). So What I did Was I Published another movie, LONGER than 1:01 Seconds...SO it Looks Like My Problem Is Generated By the Length Being Over 1:01 So....What Now?

So yeah, If i figure it out, I'll let you know :)

Awesome News. IT lookes like i found a fix to the problem. try Publishing The Movies you make In D-AVI(NTSC) Format. It should work fine then. Or at least it did for me, thank god.

Okay maybe a stupid question but I can't find XVid in all programs. I can find the Xvid by C/Windows/System32 but that's a ax file. But I can't open it. I really need some help.
