|1.||best MTS converter?
Posted by ramkuma on 2/24/2012 1:23:31 PM
Currenlty I use a software called Emicsoft to convert my MTS files to WMV for use in Movie Maker. However, when I convert, my reds in the video pulsate wildly after they original MTS video file is converted to WMV. Can anyone recommend a good software converter that does not monkey with the look of your original video upon conversion?

I have just tried Freemake Video http://download.cnet.com/Freemake-Vi...-75218346.html available for free on the internet, and so far it converts successfully (without the pulsating reds). The quality of the conversion from MTS to WMV with this software is exceptional.
|3.||Audio and video track separation?
Posted by ramkuma on 7/26/2013 11:23:25 AM
Can you separate audio and video tracks? I know you could on the old Movie Maker. I want to drop in another video over the master video without interrupting the master video's audio track, and then fade back into the master video so to illustrate a point being made by the narrator. Thanks.

Thanks. I would never have been able to figure that out intuitively.
|5.||Titles in Movie Maker
Posted by ramkuma on 7/24/2013 2:35:58 PM
How can you extend a title (I need 10 seconds) in Move Maker Live without having the text of the title bleed over into the video that follows it? Also, is there a way to stop the scroll effect in the credits? I tried to work around this by adding a title at the end, but it won't allow this since the title by default goes at the beginning of the clip. Thanks.

|7.||Better version of Movie Maker for saving your movie to computer?
Posted by ramkuma on 11/6/2012 11:34:50 AM
I am constantly getting the message about not being able to save my movies. Then I have to do the old cut up your movie, save parts individually, then bring them back in and join the parts and save them again routine, losing A LOT of quality in the process. Is there any hope on the horizon that a new version of WMM will come out so you don't have to deal with this?

Thanks. I have XP. I always use wmv and wma. Freemake Converter is a god-send---so darn easy to use, their interface is fantastically clear and easy. These guys get it.

Posted by ramkuma on 9/7/2012 11:13:41 AM
My video is 41 minutes and I can't save it. It either freezes up during the saving movie process or gives me the "blah" line about why I can't save. I have tried everything recommended here on this site and nothing works. The only thing I can think of is that there is a limit to how long your video can be??

"4. Don't make a very long complicated project. It is best to create a long project in several sections (seperate projects) and then after saving as movie files....reimport those into one project...and then save again."
Could someone give me a step by step, very dumbed down, with no missing steps, directions on how to try this? Thanks.

Thanks. This is a great link I came across about how to split up your movie and save in parts: http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutorials/MovieMaker/SplitComplexProject.htm
I am currenlty undergoing the save of Part 1. Will let you know if this works.
PS: file source, space, and file type are not the problems. My files are .wma and .wmv

Saving the complicated project in parts and then reimporing it worked. Although I seem to have lost quite a bit of quality during the process.
|13.||Clips going silent during playback after copy and paste
Posted by ramkuma on 1/4/2012 11:06:14 AM
Whenever I copy an audio file from the "Audio" portion of the timeline to the "Audio/Music" portion of the timeline (I do this when I an inserting a still photo in the "Video" portion of the timeline) the audio goes silent when transitioning from "Audio" to "Audio/Music" during playback (the mute is not set on the "Audio/Music"). However, if I click in the middle of the track on the time line and run the playback the audio in the ...

No. I only copy and paste to the Audio/Music track at places where I insert the picture. So you are saying copy and past the ENTIRE audio for my project into the Audio/Music track?

I tried copying all the audio tracks and I have the same problem. The sound won't come through. I figured out a kind of solution. I ever so slightly overlap Audio/Music track over the video track and the sound then comes through. Strange.

How do you "save out a WMV from Movie Maker itself"?

Another strange thing is that it doesn't happen all the time, just most of the time. Sometimes the sound transfers seamlessly.

I went back to re-edit a project saved on WMM and it comes up with all the clips with a big red X on them. Can anyone tell me why. And how I can bring the clips back in. (None of the source files have been deleted from my computer.)

I figured it out by doing a Google search which led me back to a posting on this forum. Because I had moved the folder from its original location it could no longer find the files. I moved the folder back to its original location and they came up. To find the original location, right click on the red X and got to Properties.
Why is the Search option here on this forum so lame. Whenever I try to do a search here on the forum, I get this generic page:

Does anyone use DVD Flick to burn DVDs from Windows Movie Maker? This appears to be reputable free DVD creator software. I am trying to figure out how to make DVDs from my .wmv file movie that I created in WMM. Thanks.

When I put in a fade transition, the audio fades as well during the transition. Is there anyway to avoid this?
I use Windows XP, wmv files. Thanks.

When I insert a picture into the video I copy and paste the portion of the video that I want to cut out for the picture and paste it in the Audio/Music line below. Sometimes, but not all the time, when I do this the audio goes mute and it won't play under the inserted picture, even though the audio is showing in the Audio/Muisc line below. Does anyone know why? Thanks.
