1.Re: Problem saving movie to dvd.
Posted by lainhartrd on 1/24/2018 2:52:31 AM
I’m currently having the same problem --- DVD’s freezing and then completely stalling -- beginning after several minutes of play. Here’s my situation: Several years ago, I had successful results using both the WMM 6.0 and Windows DVD Maker. But after switching from Windows 7 to 10 back then, I lost both programs in the conversion. Fortunately, I recently was able to reinstalled WMM 6.0 from “Blaine’s Movie Maker Blog”. But I haven’t found a free source for the (Windows) DVD maker. So, I’ve ...

P. S. All of the "free" Windows DVD Maker offers appear to be only for the trial version: limited space, watermarked, 7 days use.

Hi, Blaine and lachatnoir23:
Are you referring here to the “rippling effect” (interlacing? combing?) especially evident whenever the camcorder and/or subject(s) move? If so, I’m on the right thread!
As per lachatnoir23’s posts, my videos (high-definition) are wonderful when viewed on the computer monitor, but that rippling effect makes DVD viewing very distracting (as you well know/understand). Do I understand you correctly, Blaine, that (IF I’m responding to the ...
4.Spontaneous/irrevocable conversion from 16:9 to 4:3?
Posted by lainhartrd on 7/20/2011 8:25:09 PM
Problem: Why does WLMM spontaneously/inexplicably/irrevocably convert my (source) files from 16:3 to 4:3 (both the edited and unedited) clips AFTER several minutes of “merrily proceeding” (and successfully-so to that point) during the editing process (without any overt command by me)? Yes, I specify 16:9 at the outset, and never overtly make a further change. But --- sooner or later --- all clips are suddenly rendered at 4:3, and I can find no way to revert back to the original 16:9. (Even ...

Thanks, Blaine. But no --- the source material IS 16:9. What is confounding is that WLMM works fine for awhile during the editing process (i.e., showing both the unedited and edited scenes as 16:9). Then suddenly with no command from me, all scenes are converted to 4:3 (i.e., compressed horizontally). Richard
6.WLMM freezes up right after any task is initiated
Posted by lainhartrd on 7/4/2010 4:49:53 PM
Problem: WLMM freezes up right after any task is initiated (e.g., making a title, importing a photo or video). The screen may also start (intermittently) flashing violently. At this point, I must go to the task manager to end the “unresponsive program”. Computer is an HP Pavilion 6210f with W-7 Home Premium, 64 bit. FWIW, WMM 2.6 works perfectly fine on this computer. But I also now need WLMM for some mpeg2 video that WMM doesn’t accept. Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled WLMM with ...

RE: Windows Live Movie Maker Problem (stalling) on HP Pavilion 6210f computer. THANKS to ALL of you* for resolving this issue. The problem appears to have been multifaceted, and EACH of you provided a valuable clue to its solution. Yes, the graphics card needed to be updated (despite the fact that the computer was purchased only 7 months ago, which was a few months after Windows 7 was introduced). Yes, optional updates from Microsoft needed to be manually installed (despite the fact that I ...
8.Re: WWM freezing when Importing

Yes, I'm having the very same problem with WLMM. What I get (downloads from either Sony DCR-TRV80 or Canon Vixia HV40) is a storyboard that looks like a filmstrip: the first scene is repeated over and over and over. Further, all functions with WLMM are now essentially stalled (frozen), and I frequently must do a forced shut-down of the computer. (Note: I have successfully been using the WMM 2.6 with the Sony --- no problems there. But I [obviously] now need to use WLMM for my Canon video. My ...

Just a clarification on my post above: my WLMM freezes (as per Spindler2007's first post) with the first import of ANY video/still-picture source (i.e., not just with the Canon Vixia HV40). Screen freezes, "flashes violently", and a forced shut-down becomes necessary. (Yet, with this same computer, WMM 2.6 works just fine with the Sony video and still-picture imports. But WMM 2.6 won't work with the Canon's format --- MPEG2. Need WLMM to do that, if it just would!) Richard

Hi, Neophyte: Yes, WLMM has always had this problem since very recently installing it on this new HP computer (W7, 64 bit). No, I didn't personally install any codec packs/bundles. Thanks for any further insights! Richard

Hi again, Neophyte: Okay, uninstalled and re-installed WLMM with same result*. Sorry for my ignorance: how --- as you suggest --- do I "run the text with the countdown loop"? Thanks! Richard *Stalling/freezing also occurs if I only just click the title icon (i.e., not only when I separately try to add media.) If I ONLY open WLMM without doing anything, I can always immediately "X" out of it. Otherwise, I must do a forced shut-down through the task manager.

Neophyte: No, purchased in the States (December 2009) with Media Player installed. Despite that we've had no resolution yet, much appreciate you evaluating this situation ---. R
13.WLMM --- stalling at the storyboard

Hi. I’m new here, so sorry if this is a problem already answered: please DO link me to the appropriate site if you know the answer.
