for some reason Blaine, once I read your last post on "copying", I could type in the above message and preview (which came out OK), but it would not post it.
Just wanted you to be able to see my thank you.

copying the .vob files will result in an mpeg2 file which is not compatible to MM. You need to convert the file...

The version integrity is fine...thanks for that info.
Do the images import to the timeline or story board if you don't have the mp3 in the project yet?
Mp3's cause random issues at random times...although I haven't heard of them causing that symptom before.

If the early line references SP2 and line 4 indicates 2.0, you probably have a mixed .dll situation...which is not good. Confirm this before proceeding....

my suggestion based on that info is :
If it is less than 2.1 then downloading and installing SP2 is best bet to fix this and many other issues as well.
Get and install latest versions of DirectX runtime and Windows Media Encoder.
If all else fails try executing that file (ReRegDlls.bat) that I linked for you in an earlier post.
I know that SP2 causes your Warcraft to be laggy, but if you update the directx and ...

1. Don't use mp3s...Movie Maker often has problems with these. Convert to either .wav or .wma .
2. Don't use mpegs (unless you are sure it's an mpeg1)...these sneaky little critters can work on your project one day...and a couple of weeks later...cause all kinds of problems...convert to .wmv or .avi (and make sure you use the right codecs for this one...visit www.papajohn.org...to learn more ...

yes, MM does not copy the files at import, it records the path to where the source files are on your drives.
Posted by desilucy on 8/3/2007 5:48:21 PM
oldgoaly is correct...you will need to convert your files to be able to use them in MM. Additionally, simply renaming the extension does not address the incompatible codec used to encode your source files.

What is the file type of the pic post clip/trans?
Have you tried different file types of clips to test to see if the issue is unique to a certain vid type? Same with the pic.
