The version integrity is fine...thanks for that info.
Do the images import to the timeline or story board if you don't have the mp3 in the project yet?
Mp3's cause random issues at random times...although I haven't heard of them causing that symptom before.

copying the .vob files will result in an mpeg2 file which is not compatible to MM. You need to convert the file...

open MM and go to Help > about > See line 1 and line 4...post back what they say.
Also, post some info on computer specs since you indicated that 2.1 makes your system laggy...

take a second look at the earlier lines...any reference to SP2?

regardless...try running this > reboot >and retest:

If the early line references SP2 and line 4 indicates 2.0, you probably have a mixed .dll situation...which is not good. Confirm this before proceeding....

ionmirage-
my suggestion based on that info is :

If it is less than 2.1 then downloading and installing SP2 is best bet to fix this and many other issues as well.

Get and install latest versions of DirectX runtime and Windows Media Encoder.

If all else fails try executing that file (ReRegDlls.bat) that I linked for you in an earlier post.
I know that SP2 causes your Warcraft to be laggy, but if you update the directx and ...

This was katho's pinned post...

1. Don't use mp3s...Movie Maker often has problems with these. Convert to either .wav or .wma .

2. Don't use mpegs (unless you are sure it's an mpeg1)...these sneaky little critters can work on your project one day...and a couple of weeks later...cause all kinds of problems...convert to .wmv or .avi (and make sure you use the right codecs for this one...visit www.papajohn.org...to learn more ...

have you been to my site or Papajohn's and looked up can't save issues?
20.Re: DON'T DO THESE THINGS IF YOU WANT A GOOD OUTCOME
Posted by desilucy on 3/20/2009 9:39:09 AM
yes, MM does not copy the files at import, it records the path to where the source files are on your drives.
21.Re: .mod's?
Posted by desilucy on 8/3/2007 5:48:21 PM
oldgoaly is correct...you will need to convert your files to be able to use them in MM. Additionally, simply renaming the extension does not address the incompatible codec used to encode your source files.

I have not worked with any Tivo files...
what is the output file type? Have you done a search for a free converter that will handle that file type and output a .wmv file?

joe dirt-
to detail the workaround ...
what is the file type of the clip before using a trans to exit?
What is the file type of the pic post clip/trans?
Have you tried different file types of clips to test to see if the issue is unique to a certain vid type? Same with the pic.
Maybe if we can all detail, we may be able to come up with a fix. Possibly a codec compatibility issue...dunno yet.

Welcome to the forum BTW, sorry it is on such a ...
