As Geocities is now closed, have you reposted these zips someplace else?

I just found it also and was downloading when the computer closed! Getting strange error messages from the Microsoft reporting computer --- and the precious WMM is not previewing titles, effects or transitions so I think it's time for a "restore back to factory settings".

That's correct. In the uninstall wizard the choice is presented to uninstall the demo and KEEP the free Tranjelly wizard OR to uninstall the entire setup.
Personally I decided to go with "Pixelan'$ plan" ... removed the Xs very nicely;-)

No, but you need to register the ones in the AddOnTFX folder.

Nevermind. It's been awhile ... Microsoft's page says WMM2.6 is for Vista and W7.
However I've noticed in the forums people appear to be talking about 2.6 in XP which I didn't think would run it.

Thank you for the history catch up!
Okay then. So people shouldn't be surprized that the driver for XP/Media doesn't work on Vista and/or W7. At least it doesn't on W7 which I've tested it on.
WWM2.6, well that came off fast.
Yes I much prefer the WMM6.0 on W7. It supports both 32 and 64bit. And it can be installed as Admin whereas the 2.6 for some reason just wouldn't provide that choice. W7 guards it's program folders.

Well, just for interest sake then, how one can find the "Run" in W7:
Click on the Start, then in that search bar that appears with a magnifying glass, type run, then a list of programs will appear ... one of which should say "run" with a funny blue icon beside it. Just click "run" normally and then another box will appear with a typing box that says "Open" ... inside that typing box you'd paste the command you want to use.

Well I'm glad it worked on your computers. Didn't work on mine. But I'm not concerned myself about this atm. I've installed WMM6.0 and it seems to be working fine.
On W7 even being signed in as Admin. doesn't mean everything is running as such ... there are some things which still have to be approved a second time to be run as Admin and sometimes the system doesn't bother to mention that ... just fails the action.
Hope the OP gets it working as desired on their ...

I emailed Microsoft and was told I can post this ... so this is legal.
First, unzip the folder, then put the 2 items into your AddOnTFX folder ... then register the driver:
[thank you glow] ... Register the DLL by
Start > Run >
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX\WMM2FXPZ.dll"

Actually I was wondering why they didn't have a link for it ... and while searching all I found was a link to a bad website and a link for a $$ download so like, no ... figured I'd ask.
I don't think posting the correspondence between us would be a great idea. I've accepted their apology, thanked them for their permission ... and they do have a link to this particular posting.
Glad to see that you found another link as well and am looking forward to your .xml ...

Ottawa ... quake started in Quebec. Yes, we heard that it vibrated all the way into the States. It's quite fascinating how far reaching earthquakes can be and historically speaking they have affected nations in many ways. I recall in history classes how one notably violent group of people en masse invaded another territory and took over the place (way over in the far east) a LONG time ago ... and I always wondered why people would do that. It's a lot of work to move en masse anywhere. Then one ...

Don't scratch it! Scratches only make DVDs/CDs unusable period.
While it's practically impossible for the average person to prevent the knowledgeable person from copying their products ... you can include in the movie footage some type of copyright notice ... at the beginning, at the end ... and/or all the way through. You would have to be able to open the DVD film in video-editing software (which WMM is) and then "remake it" adding in the text etc that you want to HOWEVER you must have your instructor's [get it in writing] permission to make a derivative rendition of his/her work unless they are stating plainly either in the video or in documentation given you that you may do this. And to the best of my knowledge, they will still hold the copyright even over your derivative work.

AFAIK you have to "finish/publish" each project piece in itself ... i.e. each segment that you want to have playable on its own has to be "one project" in itself.
Then in your DVD burning software (i.e. Nero or ?), you can arrange them in there as chapters and have a menu for making choices.
WMM does not make "chapters" with a "working menu".

I gather you mean to do this quite often so I'd suggest running the sound through a sound editor first; then add it to WMM. WMM is not geared to do much sound editing ... can do fade in/out and/or "mute". Sometimes a simple splice can pave the way for one of those options.

Welcome to the forums ...
Yes, you'll have to remake your movie using appropriate settings for your television monitor. If your television isn't widescreen, neither should your movie be or it will look squished and framed.
Experiment with different settings to find out what works best ... go for as high a quality and as large as you can in order to get the best output. And check the settings on your burning software to be sure it's not resizing down your ...
