What type of file are you importing? .wav .mp3?
What is the bitrate/quality that it is being recorded? |

I wish I had an answer for you but it sounds like you are having some real issues that might be deeper than Movie Maker... If not, when you figure this out will you let me know.. I am very curious. |

I hade this same problem until I upgraded my Video card drivers. Try checking your video card drivers . Not sure why the video card caused this but it did. |
